With a spotlight on Los Angeles County, the chart above displays the distribution of the net percent change of real (inflation adjusted) personal income across California's 58 counties over the period 2000-2015.

Those counties whose real personal income growth registered above the statewide average over this period realized an increase in their statewide share of real personal income. Likewise, those counties whose real personal income growth registered below the statewide average experienced a decline in their relative share of real personal income statewide.

Statewide Snippets:

Over 2000-2015 real personal income grew in all 58 California counties.
Real personal income growth in twenty-six counties outpaced the statewide average (41.11%), while growth in thirty-two counties trailed.
At the extremes of the distribution, Imperial County posted the highest growth of real personal income (79.54%), while Sierra County placed last by logging a 4.15% gain.
The spread in real personal income growth between the highest (Imperial County, 79.54%) and lowest (Sierra County, 4.15%) over 2000-2015 equated to 75.40% ( = 79.54% − 4.15%).
Real personal income growth statewide is but a weighted metric that stems from each county's share of real personal income statewide. On this point, as the largest county in California, Los Angeles County's net real personal income growth over 2000-2015 of $164,017,636K made up 26.12% of the total net growth statewide ($627,872,920K):

Ranked #23 among California's 58 counties, Los Angeles County's real personal income growth (42.40%) outperformed the statewide average of 41.11% by a 1.29% margin.
Los Angeles County's net real personal income growth (42.40%, #23) over 2000-2015 registered just above that of Napa County (42.33%, #24) and just below that of San Bernardino County (44.34%, #22).
Los Angeles County's share of real personal income statewide rose from 25.33% in 2000 to 25.56% in 2015, resulting in a share-shift of 0.23%.
